Jin Shangyi

Introduction: Born in Jiaozuo, Hebei Province in December, 1934.

Resume: in 1953, graduated from art department of Central Academy of Fine Arts and continued his further study there.

       In 1957, he finished his research course and worked in Central Academy of Fine Arts.

       In 1983, he became the vice president of Central Academy of Fine Arts and later in 1987, he was the president there.

Position: president of China Artists Association; professor of Central Academy of Fine Arts; dorector of the first studio in his school; council member of CPPCC; vice director of China Art Education Committee; vice president of China Literary Federation, etc.

Comments and awards: he is representative of oil painters in modern China. Since 1980s, his art theroy has influnced people of several generations. Since the year 1958, he participated in many international and domestic exhibitions and a lot of his works had been collected by the Revolution&History Museum; during the early terms of 1980s, he was invited to give lectures in Oriental art department of New York University; after the year of 1980, as the director and professor of the first iol painting studio of Central Academy of Fine Arts, he had cultivated many talented persons.
