With Bohai on the north and Yellow River on the south, formed from the deposit mud filled up by ancient Yellow River, the Yellow River Island covers an area of more than 360,000 mu and once was the sea entrance of the nine rivers which were dredged by Da Yu (an ancient saint). There is also a legend of it. Early in 210 B.C., being ordered by the fist emperor of Qin Dynasty, Xu Fu set off from the island, together with ¡°thousand virgin men and women¡± and many artisans taking along seeds of cereals with them, and launched out to the east to find a kind of remedy called ¡°elixir¡±. Then because the island is lying on hinterland of Yellow River delta and full of historical culture flavour, so it was called ¡°Yellow River Island¡±.
Currently, on Yellow River Island, we plans to build a series of functional areas of ¡°one mountain, two rivers, tree villages, four gardens, five large health reserving sections, six industries, seven bases, eight fields and nine centers¡±. These include business chamber, international artists¡¯ village, hundred of top artists¡¯ park, Yellow River museum, club and creative industrial part, movie & animation entertainment place, mini Yellow River, special cultural long corridor, culture plaza, seawater bathe site, development training center, leisure bar, villa cluster ecological woods, imperial hunting ground, racecourse, golf training field, water sports, angling, shadowboxing, so on and so forth. With excursion vessel and helicopter on the island, we mainly develop tourism in the air and at the sea, so as to make Yellow River Island a shining star of littoral tourism combining with on land, in the air and at the sea games. Our aim is also to make it a largest communication and trade center of culture and art and a ¡°green ecological park¡±, covering culture, property, ecological tourism, relaxed holiday, development training, economic negotiation, rehabilitation around the area of Yellow River delta and Bohai Sea economics, so that a new ideal world or a fairy place on the sea will be represented.
