Attention museums everywhere: If a family of geese happens to be so eager to get to the pond on the other side of your museum lobby that they start tapping their beaks against your glass doors, eager to be admitted, here is a piece of advice: let them in. Let them track their webbed feet across your pristine lobby. Just make sure you take lots of pictures. No PR firm could have gotten the Norton Simon Museum, in Pasadena, California, more attention this week than it did with a simple “story” that began as a mini-phenomenon on Facebook and ended up in the pages of — okay, okay, on the blog of — the Los Angeles Times. On a side note, this writer wants to know: does this constitute preferential treatment? What if it had been a family of bears? Someone call the animal rights people.
